Starting this weekend, the fall season will officially be upon us. This means that soon you won’t be able to rely on the summer’s bright flowers and warm weather to naturally boost your home’s curb appeal. As the seasons change, it is time to think of ways to
revamp your outdoor space
for fall. We have plenty of tricks to help transition your yard and keep your curb appeal on point.
Add Sources of Light
Create a warm and cozy ambiance outside by adding elements of light throughout your outdoor space. Hanging lanterns can add layers to a patio or porch. Create your own by putting string lights in a see-through bucket to hang around your backyard. Draping string lights across trees or an outdoor wall also adds a subtle touch of light to a space without overdoing it. You may consider solar powered in-ground lights along pathways or up lights highlighting evergreen shrubbery and plants.
Extend the Season with an Outdoor Heating
Make your outdoor space an extension of the interior of your home by extending the time you have to entertain outside. In order to do this in the colder months, add fireplaces or heating devices outdoors. Build a stone fireplace, purchase a firepit, or simply dress your outdoor furniture with throw blankets. Your guests are more apt to hang out on the back deck or patio when they’re most comfortable.
Fall-Hued Furniture Accents
Switch out brightly colored pillows and throw blankets for cooler, warmer tones. Use orange and brown accents on patio furniture to transition into the autumn season. Find pots, planters, and garden accessories in the same warm hues to add to those fall colors.
Seasonal Flowers and Plants
Fresh flowers are always a key piece to outdoor design no matter the season. Transition your backyard with fall-appropriate flowers like mums, coral bells, lambs ear, and decorative cabbages. Add gourds and pumpkins for additional layers and differentiated texture to the space.
These ideas can help get your backyard ready for many months of outdoor entertaining in the fall. As autumn rolls in with cooler weather and falling leaves, your home’s exterior spaces should transition along with the season. Follow
